About FINALY!

WHO WE ARE

We are a dynamic youth driven organization that empowers youth to be active participants in decision making and implementation. Our involvement in social and economic issues provides an opportunity for youth to build a viable future in Newfoundland and Labrador. We are a provincial youth council of 12 with 3 democratically elected representatives from each of the four regions: Labrador, Western, Central and Eastern. We have over 1200 members aged between 15 -35 and a staff of 2 full time positions with an additional 4-8 contracted employees.

WHERE WE ARE

From Makkovik to Seal Cove, our members represent communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Our staff have worked in every region, with offices in Port Hope Simpson, Parsons Pond, Labrador City, Grand Falls-Windsor, Clarenville, and St. John’s.

WHAT WE DO

We encourage success for youth through workshops that focus on skill development and idea generation. We promote opportunities for youth both in their local economic zone and throughout the province. We celebrate achievements by youth through the annual Provincial Youth of the Year Awards Program. We coordinate projects such as provincial and national conferences focusing on youth and community development. We distribute information to youth throughout the province. We help establish and maintain zonal youth councils, in partnership with Regional Economic Development Boards.

WHY WE DO IT

Our mission is to represent youth in the province, to encourage and coordinate youth involvement in the Regional Economic Development Process, to provide information through a support network for and concerning youth, to promote the achievements of youth in helping create a prosperous future in Newfoundland and Labrador and to develop pride in our heritage and culture in our province.

HOW WE DO IT

FINALY! is supported by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), Service Canada, and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, as well many valued community partners in the private and voluntary sectors. FINALY! works in conjunction with Regional Economic Development Boards and local partners to help establish and maintain zonal youth councils.
