Project Title: Paying Attention to our Neglected Shoreline
Project Description: In partnership with the Southeastern Aurora Development Corporation and corporate support from Nalcor Energy, this Green Team will strive to improve the viewscape of boater and water enthusiasts by reinstalling pride and appreciation to their shoreline. This will be accomplished by analyzing the beaches in the area and creating detailed maps. These maps will help educate the residents on what can be found in their own back/front yard and recommend ways to address the present situation. Safe and fun activities will be organized weekly to promote education and participation from other youth to help improve the situation.
Team Leader (1 Position): The Team Leader is the day-to-day supervisor for the Green Team. As such this person is responsible for the conduct of Team Members and the work they undertake. The Team Leader ensures that the work required is properly assigned and carried out, and ensures that the project proceeds smoothly. This involves planning, maintaining discipline, daily acquisition of materials required, effective liaison with the Project Proponent and the Conservation Corps, troubleshooting, etc. A Team Leader is expected to demonstrate the ability to plan and organize and must have previous leadership and supervisory skills. This position is for eight weeks with a rate of pay $11.00 per hour for 35 hours per week.
Team Member (3 Positions): The Team Member is an integral part of the Green Team. The Team Member follows the direction given by the Team Leader, has the ability to work well in a team environment and feels that s/he can make a positive contribution to the projects undertaken. This position is for eight weeks at $10.00 per hour for 35 hours per week.

Project Title: Trail Development (Mud Lake Walkway)
Project Description: In partnership with the Town of Happy Valley – Goose Bay this Green Team project will focus on trail development. The team will work on the development of a trail extension next to the Churchill River by cutting brush along existing road approximately 100 feet from road, plant trees and spread crush stone. The team will also conduct a number of Environmental Awareness Events, which will include presentations, delivery of games, arts and crafts and other activities.

Conservation Corps - Communications Officer
Conservation Coprs Newfoundland and Labrador is a non-profit organization with a mandate to provide young people with meanginful work, training and educational opportunities in the areas of environmental and cultural heritage conservcation and enhancement. Conservation Corps in now accepting applications for the following position:
Communications Officer (1 Position)
Successful applicant will be responsible for CCNL media relations during the 2010 Green Team Season. Individual will be responsible for approaching media sources, preparing/editing press releases, as well as promoting CCNL and Green Team efforts and events throughout the province. In addition, individual will use photography and videography skills to document Green Team projected located all over the island, as well as develop a photo and video library for CCNL from already existing materials. Successful applicant will likely have an educational background in Media Relations, Public Relations, Education and Youth Studies, Journalism or Photography.
Skills/Experience:
* Photography/Videography experience (including editing software experience)
* Previous Media Relations Experience
* Strong writing skills
* Organizational skills
* Public Speaking skills
* Website maintenance
* Event Planning
Individual must be willing to travel within the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Candidates must have valid drivers license and acces to own vehicle with appropriate insurance preferrered. Position based in St. John's, however, some travel will be required (Travel expenses reimbursed in accordance with Provincial Government rates).
Salary for the above position is $12.00/hour for 35 hours per week for 12 weeks.
