"Glocal Guide"
On August 2nd, the Global Education Initiative (GEI) is going to launch a bi-weekly events/opportunities guide or "Glocal Guide" that will highlight all of the different globally-oriented employment/volunteer opportunities, and events that are happening in our province!
Global Education Initiative: Educational Resource Development Report
The Research, Public Outreach and Advocacy Committee of the Global Education Initiative is in the beginning stages of creating an "Educational Resource Development Report". While this organization hopes to help reinstate a course in Global Issues, they also consider it vital to infuse the rest of their curriculum with a global, activist focus whenever possible. By creating this report, they hope to identify ways in which they can develop resources for teachers and students that can revolutionize how certain topics are taught across our province. They want to know how groups have created resources in the past and educated others on matters related to global education and/or citizenship; with your help, the GEI can potentially enhance curriculum and make it accessible to students across Newfoundland and Labrador. If your organization has already been involved with developing resources/delivering workshops in schools, they would love to learn from your experiences. If your organization is new to this type of work but is interested in collaboration, they would also appreciate hearing from you!
They hope to complete their report in the Fall 2010 semester and welcome the opportunity to discuss the project and collaborate with you by phone or in person this summer. Please contact Jessica Walsh (jessicaw@globaleducationinitiative.ca) or Andrew Harvey (andrewh@globaleducationinitiative.ca) to join in the exciting discussions.
