Volunteer Positions

Global Citizenship Initiative - Recruiting Volunteers!

Are you interested in thinking global and acting local? Always thought that “something” was missing from the curriculum you learned in school? Think that education is one of the most important tools for knowledge and empowerment? New to Newfoundland and Labrador and want to get to know the community? Have something to say about social justice and active citizenship to the young people of this province?Want to volunteer on a team of amazing, dedicated and energetic individuals?

Then we have the opportunity for you!

No matter if you only have an hour a week to give to a cause every effort no matter the size helps promote the importance of being a global citizen and helping our ever changing and developing world. The GCI has four committies that you can get involved in depending on your area of interest. They are post-secondary, school outreach, community outreach and advocay and communications. If you are interested in either committee or just becoming a general member please visit our website at www.globalcitizenshipinitiative.ca or contact us at info@globalcitizenshipinitiative.ca.

Interested in Health and Tobacco Control?

Health Canada, in partnership with the Students Commission, has been running a Youth Action Committee for several years as part of the Federal Tobacco Control Program, and will be introducing a Young Adult Advisory Committee this year. We are in the process of recruiting youth for both committees. Youth who participate will be responsible for running tobacco control projects in their communities as well advising Health Canada on a range  of topics.

We are looking for youth ages 14-24 from across Canada with a broad range of experiences, who are interested in tobacco control initiatives. For more information, or to apply please visit www.tgmag.ca.

This is a great opportunity for YDM members to use their skills to help influence policy at the federal level. It's also a great way to gain some skills that look great on a resume! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Eric Paterson at ericp@tgmag.ca
